Atlas Sound - Malmö

Here is a song that I recorded at a hotel in Malmö, Sweden:

Atlas Sound - Malmö

Tonight is the big Atlanta blow-out at the Variety Playhouse, with the Black Lips, Us, Snowden, and Selmanaires.. I flew back here for this, it better be good. It's nice to be in my own bed again. This will be our last Atlanta show for the foreseeable future. So long, folks.

Atlas Sound - Cobwebs

Recorded yesterday by Chris Taylor at the Grizzly Bear practice space, which is the balcony of an amazing old church in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I was transported to 1965. The ceiling was decaying. The floors were orange linoleum.

I just had the opportunity to see the Clean play an in-store at Other Music, which allows me to check off another band on my list of shows I want to see before I die. It was an amazing performance.

Happy Thanksgiving! Micromix 10....

It's really good to be home. I hope all our American friends are having a nice day with their families. I am about to leave for my sister's house to stuff myself with food of the wholesome variety that can only be produced by strong-willed southern women. Since I'm still kind of in a different time zone mentally, I woke up really early this morning and decided to make a new micromix, hope you enjoy it!

1. Y.A.C.H.T. - So Post All 'Em
2. Ilunga Patrice - Masengu
3. This Heat - Sleep
4. Velvet Underground - Heroin (live 1969)
5. Nick Drake - Black-Eyed Dog
6. Nico - Ari's Song
7. Lazy Smoke - There Was a Time
8. Jay Reatard - My Family
9. Dave Berry - The Crying Game
10. Bill Fay - Pictures of Adolf

Bill Fay - I Hear You Calling

fay3.jpg
I wanted to cover this song, but we flew back from europe today and I am so exhasted that the idea of messing with wires and knobs makes me feel dizzy. I still was so moved by this song that I wanted to go ahead and share it here. I heard this album years ago and didn't know what to make of it. It seemed like something my friend's liberal parents would listen to in their basement while they secretly smoked joints after filing their taxes. I guess I'm getting older because I happened to find it on my ipod in the van, driving through germany, and it fit my deflating mood perfectly. I've been really fixated on the idea of wasted time lately and the line "all my time is lying on the factory floor" seems so melancholy it almost moves me to cry.

I recomend you check out the rest of the album this song is from, "The Time of the Last Persecution"

Goodbye 21st Century

So we have one show left tomorrow night in Leipzig, Germany. Then we drive through the night to Prague where we fly home from early in the morning. This tour has been really insane. We met a lot of amazing people and finally got to play the UK, making our debut at the forum even. We are totally grateful for the opportunity to play everywhere we did. When we started this band years ago we never imagined playing outside of Atlanta, so this has all been like a hallucination. We are all exhausted now and ready to be home. I would like to announce that the show we are playing at Primavera in Barcelona (I hope to god i spelled that right) will be our last for quite some time. It will also be the last time we are ever playing the Cryptograms set we have been playing for the last two years. After that the band are going on hiatus. We all need some time to organize our lives. Thanks to everyone who has helped us out. This has been a crazy year that I will always remember.

Love,
Bradford

P.S. we will still post stuff on here but probably not just as regularly and you can pretty much rest assured it will be solo stuff and not deerhunter, so if you are one of those people who are like, "why doesn't bradford start his own blog", delete your bookmark. deerhunter is sleeping now.

P.P.S. I miss my mom and dad making me go to church when i was a kid.

P.P.P.S. everyone should absolutley check out adam and greg's amazing ambient new age blog.

Atlas Sound - ABC Glasgow

Here is a small ambient thing I made while I was sitting backstage at ABC Glasgow waiting to play. Sorry about the slack posting on here, its very hard to find a stable wireless connection on tour. I have tons of photos and more music to upload. I will get to it as I can. Listen to this song at night when it is cold out.

ATLAS SOUND - ABC GLASGOW.MP3

Dan, as far as ambient music goes, here are some random recommendations:

The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond Ultraworld
Nobukazu Takemura - Child's View (or) Scope
Eluvium (sp?) just heard it recently and liked it
Stars of the Lid
Casino Versus Japan - Untitled (his first record, all of his albums are amazing but this one is exceptionally "ambient")
Michael Nymann - Decay Music

I'm kind of rushed so that's all I can think of now, if anyone else wants to start throwing out suggestions go for it.
